If
you love books and are looking for people to discuss literature
with, then the U3A Book Lovers Group will suit you.
Unlike most
book clubs there are no set books that members read between meetings.
Instead, each member talks about the book or books they have been
reading giving a short brief about the author, plot, characters
and themes and whether they would recommend it or not.
This format
allows for a diverse choice of books to be brought forward and for
members to be introduced to authors, genres and styles of writing
that they would normally not choose for themselves.
Discussing a
particular book can lead to the sharing of ideas and perspectives
on a wide range of issues both current and historical. Most members
are more than happy to loan their books to others so the group provides
a book exchange opportunity as well.
It is also a
great way to meet new popple and make friends with a common interest.
MEETINGS
- Every 4th Wednesday of the month between February and November
each year commencing at 10am.
