Financial Discussion group meets on the second Thursday monthly

from 2-4pm in the Champions Bar at Frenchville sports club.

It has only been going since June 2021. Discussion subjects so far have included -

Changes in the Financial World since the mid-seventies.

It’s that time again - Tax Returns and Deductions. (July topic)

How do you decide when to buy and sell shares ?

Is your car a Liability or an Asset?

Our next topics for discussion are Interest Rates and Supply and Demand.

We have had a visit from a Bank Manager, Alan Jackson, speaking on Scams and Frauds on your bank accounts.

Financial topics are set prior to each monthly meeting and discussion by all participants is encouraged. Topics cover all three investment asset groups, Cash, Shares and Property and a variety of issues related to finances.

From time to time, we have guest speakers . We have had a Bank Manager and will be having visits from a Financial Planner and a Real Estate Agent at future meetings.

What a great meeting this afternoon organised by Coordinator Alan Watts. Alan introduced Financial Advisor, Shannon who answered questions submitted by members at last month’s meeting.

Shannon spoke to us in terms we could understand and showed a genuine interest in the members of U3A and our circumstances as senior citizens.

I thoroughly recommend U3A members attend Alan’s Group. The subjects are very much related to the financial issues of our age group and personal circumstances. It is NOT a session for checking stock exchange listings and share prices.

Thanks Alan and Shannon for a very practical and entertaining afternoon.
